Dr Victoria Cock’s main areas of interest are the medical co-morbidities occurring in people with substance dependence. This would include due to alcohol, infectious causes as a result of IVDU, abuse of compound analgesics etc. A particular focus at work is the inpatient medical management of complicated withdrawals from all substances.

She also has a keen interest in the treatment of hepatitis C in active injecting drug users and other vulnerable population groups.

Her outpatient interest is mainly in the area of alcohol relapse prevention and the medical pathways of management in this area.

Victoria works within a tertiary hospital setting and her areas of interest in this setting include alcoholic liver disease, peri-transplant assessments and management in terms of substance dependence in the liver transplant setting, as well as the acutely unwell substance dependent patient – unwell due to acute intoxication, overdose, withdrawal or undifferentiated drug use issues.
